10 Steps to Foolproof Decorating - Step 1: Deep Cleaning & Decluttering

This is where it all begins ladies and gentlemen.

Whenever you consider a downsizing project – even if you’re staying right where you are, you’ll need to eliminate what you no longer use, need or want.

Cleaning will be easier at this point and you can go back and organize things so everything has a place and should be put back where it belongs. Resist the temptation to go through sentimental items first. That’s a non-starter and will lead to immediate non-productivity which is not a good way to start.

Go one drawer or closet, room by room at a time. Toss, donate or gift (if anyone is interested in having something you no longer need) Just remember, most people won’t want the item, will never pick it up and are not interested in having your unwanted items). Sad, but true. Toss and donate. Start it soon for optimum results.

If you need some help with this process, I could probably help you out. Don’t be afraid to send me an email at nancy@nancymichaelsinteriors.com.
