Back to School, Back to Work, Back to Home

There’s something about a cooler day in August that reminds me that fall is right around the corner and I tend to work on an academic calendar year, back to school, back to work and back to making my home cozier with the cooler weather.

It’s often a time when we want to get projects done – before the holidays. If that’s the case, hopefully you’ve lined up the necessary people to help you get the job done. Either way, here are a few tips to help you get back in the groove come September.

Make a Plan

Chances are you enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine that summer brings, but if you don’t have a map, you can’t travel. The same is true when it comes to minor or major home projects. Identify a couple of things you’ve been putting off like painting a room, replacing an appliance, ordering a piece of furniture, etc. Do research, go to the store to see the item if possible (nothing is more annoying than returning an area rug you saw online but didn’t love when it arrived).

Take Advantage of Sales

Here are some items you can get great buys on in the Fall:

Appliances

Grills

Lawnmowers

Patio Furniture

Vacuums

Cookware

Televisions

Keep your eyes and ears opened to hear of these deals and take advantage of the savings.

Upgrade Bedding

You may have been off schedule during the summer months and getting into a consistent routine can be an adjustment. Getting a great night’s sleep can be the key to getting back in the groove. I stayed at a friend's home this summer and I could not believe the mattress and how comfortable it was. I felt like I was sinking into it was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Investing in new sheets, pillows, covers, mattress pad and comforter can elevate your mood and your rest.

Take a Class.

I’m launching a decorating course in late September that of course, I’d love for you to participate in. The topic is Timeless Decorating, Foolproof Decor for Every Room. I’d love to see you there!

Adult Education is a great way to learn something new. If you’ve got a specific interest, MeetUp Groups are great to join as well. I did that as soon as I moved to Boston last year and am grateful I did. I’ve met people I otherwise wouldn’t have – had I not gotten involved. Even adults need new friends!

Schedule Some Fun

It’s always good to look forward to something. I’m planning on going to the Brimfield Fair in September MA – something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m also trying to plan a trip to Portugal with my three adult children this year, or early 2023. Any ideas, please send them!

Whether we want to embrace the beginning of Fall or not, it’s coming. Hope these ideas are some that you can look forward to and ease into September!
